Tuena is one of the most picturesque villages in NSW best known for the discovery of gold in 1851 with gold so plentiful that it was being “collected” rather than dug.
Tuena is the northern-most village in the Shire and has the beautiful Tuena Creek running through it. The camping ground and recreation area is adjacent to the Casuarina lined creek and offers an excellent location for overnight stays or group holidays.
Gold panning is still a regular activity and pans can be bought from Parsons’ General Store where the walls are filled with memorabilia and collections dating back to the gold rush days.
Whilst in Tuena make your way up to the Abercrombie Caves and enjoy both the guided and self-guided walks.
Other pursuits include hiking, trout fishing, swimming and photography…if you can spare time from fossicking that is!
